Secret Dealings

Texas is one of only a handful of states which do not require property sales prices to be disclosed.

The MLS reports prices and allows appraisers to keep home appraisals close to market values, but commercial sales are cloaked in secrecy.

The Texas Association of Appraisal Districts estimates: Texas commercial property is undervalued by 40 percent.

Comp Sales Search

Use our special application to search for residential properties in Travis County that are comparable to yours. After you find a comparable property, copy and paste the property ID into the search field on the website of the Travis County Appraisal District in order to find out if your property is being over appraised.

The application was created by Dan Jones and Jim Eastburn.  Dan gathered data from TCAD by using open records requests and Jim did the programming.
